The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Shick the Sequel – Mal Young Creates Opportunity‘Shick’ fans wanted it leading into 2014 on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) had reunited and were about to be married until the recast Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) showed up. Now, heading into the summer of 2018, executive producer and head writer Mal Young has created ‘Shick’ the sequel and with that an opportunity for a full revival of this one-time power couple.

The term power couple appears to have fallen out of fashion within the last year. It’s being used here, regardless of popularity, in order to reinforce a point.

Young’s methodical structuring of various storylines in 2017 bled into 2018, which was leading to Sharon and Nick’s reconciliation. Various characters and issues all had to be handled and were. Yes, this wasn’t an easy lift. But Y&R made it happen and for that fans of this duo are grateful.

It must be said that the just-reconciled couple is facing a looming issue. The J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) coverup crime includes Sharon, who at first wasn’t a willing participant. But her recent reverse makes her fully complicit and thus a potential target of Nick’s rage whenever the truth is literally unearthed.

However, Nick will surely considering, upon reflection, that Sharon’s thought process involved protecting Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Vickie (Amelia Heinle), and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni). He’ll probably realize that all four women were caught in a bad situation, reacted due to shock, and were looking out for each other. Sharon’s involvement in this scenario is starkly different than all past incidents where Nick felt betrayed.

‘Shick’ should be in the clear once Y&R resolves the J.T. issue. Of course, other dilemmas will follow. But tenured fans of this soap are hopeful that Young has created an opportunity for an indefinite revival of one of this show’s most famous couples.

It’s been 13 years since Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) death served to split ‘Shick’. Here’s hoping that the purposeful act of repairing Sharon and Nick means that this pairing is truly back.
