Yes, it seemed like ‘Shick’ was happening on ‘The Young and the Restless’. And it still may. But Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) intends to rip Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) apart, just like she did when Michelle Stafford played this iconic character.
Tenured viewers would tell newer Y&R fans that the ‘Shick’ split was part of the most controversial storyline in modern show history. Those in charge of this steamer at the time decided to kill off Cassie (Camryn Grimes played her first before morphing, brilliantly, into Mariah). The death of Y&R’s greatest-ever child actor (Cassie, ranks an easy second) sent shock waves that still reverberate.
The intended purpose of killing Cassie was partially to split Sharon and Nick. That happened when Nick opted to abandon his grieving wife Sharon and take up with Phyllis (then played by Stafford). ‘Phick’ sustained its relationship for an extended period, generated heavy drama, and produced Summer (played most recently by Hunter King).
Sharon was written down the drain during ‘Phick’s’ reign. All who witnessed that devolution knows that last sentence doesn’t mean that Case, an incredible actor, or Sharon, an ever-compelling character, went low. Instead, this tag reminds of Sharon’s constant struggle to regain her sense of sense.

Nick has repeatedly said that he wants to trust Sharon again. This one-time pairing has recently revisited romance and was surely moving to a likely reunion, potentially including another marriage.

But Phyllis’ dish to Nick about Sharon’s involvement in the J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) body-dump points directly at Y&R’s mid-2000’s arc. Ultimate justice would have Sharon fend off Phyllis and remarry Nick. Here’s hoping both happen in 2018.
