The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Sharon’s Goodwill Praised By Nikki – Temporary Peace In Genoa City

Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) rarely agree on ‘The Young and the Restless’, let alone compliment each other. But that’s what happened when Nikki went to the cottage and praised her former daughter-in-law for welcoming Kathy (Jenica Bergere) and that new character’s two children into her home.

Fans with strong memories tagged Bergere’s character as not having debuted when Sharon first saw her last week at Crimson Lights. No, Nikki first met her in that setting at Christmas. That’s when Kathy attempted to steal from Nikki’s purse.

So Kathy apparently wasn’t a one-off, holiday-era character who was merely written in to honor the spirit of Katherine (Jeanne Cooper). Instead, she appears to be Sharon’s latest project, as Nick (Joshua Morrow) termed her.

Sharon has nicely handled Scott’s (Daniel Hall) betrayal. Case’s fans were pleased and relieved to see that Y&R hasn’t and doesn’t appear to be writing Sharon back to instability. That theme has been overplayed, as all reasonable observes would agree.

Nick’s relay of Sharon’s new house guest to his mother sent Nikki to the Cottage, where Kathy’s story continued to be told. She and her children have been with Sharon for a few days. Case’s character has begun working on a solution for Kathy’s homelessness, which also spurned Nikki to have a brainstorm.

It’s nice to see Sharon and Nikki getting along. There have been periods through the years when a similar detente has held sway. Such times allowed both actors to demonstrated their collaborative range via their character’s exchanges.

This good feeling follows Nikki’s offer to Sharon (which she accepted) to help trouble women. That 2017 suggestion may again bear fruit now.

Whether Kathy proves to be a longtime presence in town is unknown. It would also seem that she and her children won’t remain in Sharon’s home indefinitely, either. Nikki’s ideas seem geared toward offering Kathy some type of job, which could then lead to Bergere assuming recurring cast status.
