It’s undeniable that ‘Shick’s’ revived bond continues to deepen. In this instance, Sharon brought Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) to the hospital so she could see her grandfather. Nick was also bolstered by seeing the face of his only daughter.

Sharon and Nick appear primed not to revisit their past, but to explore a new future. If that read like a cliché, think again. The 2018 potential edition of ‘Shick’ isn’t like the original, mid-1990’s version. This seeming repairing also is different than 2014’s nearly remarried version.
As Y&R viewers recall, the then just recast Phyllis (played by Gina Tognoni) arrived at the church and literally stopped the wedding. She dropped information about Sharon’s paternity duplicity where Summer (Hunter King) was concerned. That act prevented Sharon and Nick fans from rejoicing. But reflection makes that okay based upon those soapy circumstances.
This time around Sharon stands as the person who learned the truth about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity and made sure Nick knew it, despite (ironically) Phyllis’ objections. The specific point in that arc positioned Sharon within Nick’s trust zone. That, more than anything, gives this pair a legit chance to recouple.
Many Y&R fans and readers of this column can surely relate to having been connected to someone in a genuine way at one time and then having that relationship go sideways, or fully under. The power of this plot involves an opportunity for redemption, which everyone can surely understand.
Today isn’t yesterday. Tomorrow’s are more than unknown, they may never happen depending upon where life takes each of us. That’s why what Nick and Sharon have begun to explore involves significant risk.
‘Shick’ have history and children. They had love, alienation and distrust. But what would a choice to love each other again bring?
Life isn’t fully controllable, in Genoa City or on the other side of the screen. But it is always open for adjustment due to free will. Y&R appears to have written Sharon and Nick toward a mutual choice. Loyal viewers and newer fans will be watching to see if great soap results.
