Sharon (Sharon Case) has come to believe that there’s still something between her and Nick (Joshua Morrow) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) isn’t so sure. She’s leery that her mom’s heart might be broken and that her stability could, therefore, be upended. While sincere, Mariah’s feelings are likely overprotective.
It’s taken Sharon a long time, years actually, to finally reclaim an even keel. But she’s done it, as evidenced by her recent smooth transition away from ‘Shott’ and prior to that, the end of ‘Shylan’.
Case’s character has finally been written back to believability. Her fans are hoping that executive producer and head writer Mal Young’s intent, in seemingly promoting an expected ‘Shick’ reunion, keeps Sharon moving forward.

Since Cassie (also played by Grimes) died there’s been a box drawn around Sharon. She was weak, vulnerable, not able to maintain her emotional stability and generally unsteady in many other areas. Then, Y&R also had her playing paternity games with Summer (Hunter King), which ended the expected ‘Shick’ wedding in 2014, and most recently, with Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen).
In having maintained Sharon’s steady focus, Young’s team allowed Sharon to work through Scott’s (Daniel Hall) betrayal without falling apart. By specifically having Sharon tell Nick that Christian wasn’t his son, Y&R enabled multilevel redemption. At the same time Nick was positioned to trust Sharon again, which he now does.
Having Nick accept Sharon’s offer to move into the cottage after Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) abandoned him was a watershed moment. The idea that could have happened any point in recent years would have been ludicrous. But with both characters being single and actually trusting each other, it’s become possible that Sharon’s push to win Nick back can work.
Sharon and ‘Shick’ supporters are hopeful that Y&R allows this one-time mega couple to be given another soapy shot. Each person has matured in varying ways. So the potential for this sequel to be different than the original play is strong.
