The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Sharon Focused on Nick – Christian’s Future Is the Issue

Nick (Joshua Morrow) isn’t actually the most important person within this storyline on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) is, which is what Sharon (Sharon Case) instantly realized.

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) has been living a lie for years. She knew that Christian wasn’t Nick’s child since Adam (Justin Hartley) was alive.

‘Chadam’ decided that it was compassionate to shield Nick from knowing the truth. But Adam’s death eventually led to Chelsea becoming romantically involved with Nick. That was the point at which she should have told the man she claimed to care about the paternity secret.

If Chelsea had done so, ‘Chick’ may, or may not have formed. This pairing happened while Nick was blind to reality. So his basis for trusting Chelsea wasn’t legitimate from the jump.

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is motivated by guilt. She believes she wronged Nick in the past and is using that mind worm in an attempt to negate Chelsea’s continued existence in his life.

Sharon had to convince Phyllis that the Christian paternity issue is more relevant than simply exposing Chelsea’s money scheme. As Y&R fans saw, Phyllis digested that assertion and then asked Sharon for her help.

Ranking them in order, Chelsea is the least concerned with Nick’s welfare. She could have easily avoided the blackmail pressure Victor (Eric Braeden) has applied if she would have come clean with Nick from the start.

Phyllis calling Christian’s paternity a moot point was revealing. She showed a complete lack of understanding regarding Nick’s priorities. His children, which he believes includes Christian, come first, not his own welfare.

Sharon earns the top rating in this regard. She knows that her own role in the Sully-isn’t-Christian matter will be revisited, but doesn’t care. She wants Christian’s true paternity to be known. Nick will value Sharon’s response when he comes to learn of it in the near future.

Daytime devotees know that Egan previously announced her departure from Y&R. It’s believed that Chelsea will last be seen on-screen in March. ‘Chick’ is therefore destined to crack.

Hopefully Y&R fans see the final, needed resolution to the outstanding Christian paternity issue within the next few weeks. How this hoped-for climax is written will determine Nick’s future, but more importantly, Christian’s.
