Young & The Restless

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Reed Needs His Father – J.T. Jams With Son

Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) was in need of his real father on ‘The Young and the Restless’. J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) return to town was a planned event and hopefully will allow this crucial bond to grow. One never knows in the soapy world, or the real one, how long irreplaceable people will be around.

To his credit, Billy (Jason Thompson) always tried to offer Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) son support and advice. He also saved Reed’s life on Halloween night. But J.T. is this young man’s father, the importance of which can’t be denied.

The tease within the first paragraph of this feature involves Luckinbill’s open admission that his character may only be in the storyline until the end of this month, or March. That could mean that J.T. will be written out, or based upon his heart condition, might die.

Vickie was handling three children on her own before J.T. returned. Billy was a good father to his two children and, as noted, served as a male role model for Reed. All seasoned soap fans, who are also experienced in life, know that dad’s and mom’s are equally important. The lack of one influence forces a child to live in a world that can be significantly unbalanced, regardless of the genuine efforts the remaining parent offers, or with whoever that existing connection may bond with.

Reed is a good soul. He’s acted out on occasion, but cares for his family and friends. His recent breakup with Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) is just one example of where J.T.’s experience and guidance could prove helpful moving forward.

On the upside, J.T. is forthright about wanting to be there for his son. He opted to restart a relationship with Vickie and moved into her house as part of an effort to make that happen.

Seeing the Hellstrom men jamming out was heart-warming and hopefully foreshadows many more upbeat days to follow. It would be a shame to see J.T. exit Genoa City. For Reed, his loss would be irreplaceable.
