The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Problems Between Chelsea and Nick – Sharon Is Available

Obviously a return of Adam (most recently played by Justin Hartley) is being teased on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But whether that happens isn’t the point that’s being addressed in this article. As Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) seemingly allow further problems to grow between them, Sharon (Sharon Case) remains available now that Scott (Daniel Hall) is gone.

Would Nick turn to Sharon if he split from Chelsea? That question creates rifts in the audience. It is possible to know what exact percentage supports a revisited ‘Chick’, opposes that revival or remains neutral. All polls have value, with many that have been taken over time on this subject indicating a split between fans of this former super couple and its foes.

Chelsea and Nick formed though inorganic soap opera means. Kelly Sullivan (Sage) didn’t have her contract extended by Y&R. At a later point Hartley voluntarily left the cast. Because Hartley provided advanced notice of his intent to depart, Y&R was able to create a fitting Adam write-out and consider where his widow and Sage’s widower would go next.

It took a number of months for Chelsea and Nick to respond to each other romantically. As that happened fans knew that they were being paired together due to off-screen decisions about connected characters. However, the likeability factor of both actors and their solid performance chops enabled a believable couple to develop.

‘Chick’ has worked. But Nick’s reaction to details about Chelsea’s scammer past was enlightening. He has a trust issue. If that specific point is ever touched again, via the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity matter, ‘Chick’ seems primed to end.

It wouldn’t be far-fetched to believe that Chelsea and Nick could face further conflict that would result in Sharon’s availability becoming an issue. While no current chemistry exists between Sharon and Nick, their deep history allows a plausible revival of their shared passion.

Nick hasn’t forgotten about the Sully (also the McGuigen twins) lie. But he’s found a place of peace and workable co-parenting with his original true love, Sharon.

It might not take Adam’s return to create ‘Shick’ 2018. But of course the restart of that electric character would surely make it far more likely. Who else would Nick turn to for comfort if Chelsea reunites with her twice-dead husband?
