The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Phyllis’ Past Catches Up To Her – Summer’s Betrayal and J.T. Mess Converge

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is losing, or likely may have already lost Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But her initial betrayal of him spurned what happened with ‘Silly’. While that dramatic development happens, the unresolved J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) mess is also about to be revealed.

The Billy face-slap that takes place this week represents what likely is the actual end of ‘Philly’. It’s not that this couple wasn’t likely doomed when Phyllis impulsively cavorted with Nick (Joshua Morrow). But there was a chance that Phyllis and Billy would make it to the altar themselves before all was known.

However, the instant Sharon (Sharon Case) told the gathered crowd of ‘Phick’s’ renewed involvement during ‘Shick’s’ attempted remarriage, Billy’s view of reality was permanently adjusted. Calculated reprisal then ensued.

Mr. Abbott actually proposed to Phyllis during ‘Shick’s’ nuptials. The audience knew that a ‘Philly’ wedding was unlikely to happen because it was aware of Phyllis’ more recent past. Hardcore viewers knew what the Michelle Stafford version of this character did in days gone by as well.

Summer (Hunter King) is ‘Phick’s’ child. She was born from the relationship Nick voluntary started after Cassie (Camryn Grimes) tragically died as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident. That storyline was and remains one of the most controversial in Y&R’s history. Despite it’s decade-plus-old reach, it still impacts the show today.

It is fully fitting that Phyllis only child would now be at the center of ‘Philly’s’ seemingly certain demise.

Meanwhile, Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) continues to inch closer to uncovering the coverup crew’s actions. His press for answers is unraveling the secrecy screen that Phyllis, Sharon, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) have held in front of their unreported crimes.

Phyllis faces the loss of her latest love and freedom this fall. Yes, the distant past and more recent actions have both caught up to her. What the fallout will be for Billy and Summer remains uncertain, as their potential child would further a somewhat similar history repeat.
