The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Phyllis Must Save Summer – Jail Time for Returned Diva

Summer is about to arrive and is also back on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The season of summer was initially referenced in the preceding sentence. And, as Y&R fans know, the other Summer (Hunter King) is Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) daughter.

Well, it looks like Nick (Joshua Morrow) now has two reasons to stay in Genoa City, rather than move to San Diego with Sharon, Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen). A subsequent feature would be best to address how Victor (Eric Braeden) is blocking Nick. So let’s return to two-time Daytime Emmy Award-winner King now.

Summer finds herself behind bars due to apparently being in possession of a stolen vehicle. She’d recently been in Atlanta, but returned to her hometown after a two year absence in said Italian sports car.

King’s initial run on the show began in 2012. At that time she became the SORAS’d version of ‘Phick’s’ daughter. Also at that time, Michelle Stafford was embodying the original version of Phyllis. Tognoni took over in 2014 when the recast version of Phyllis awoke from a coma and thumbed rides back to GC. Stafford had left Y&R on amicable terms and moved to ABC’s General Hospital, where she began playing Nina.

Work on ‘Life in Pieces’ has precluded King from playing Summer on Y&R the past few years. But a break in that nighttime CBS’ sitcom’s filming schedule exists now that it has become a mid-season replacement, rather than having a fall debut.

Summer’s drive back to Wisconsin from Georgia was shown with stylish flair. She was initially seen behind the wheel crossing GC’s city line.

Only a handful of scenes played out over two days before one of Paul’s (Doug Davidson) officers came to arrest Summer at the GC Athletic Club’s rooftop ‘Hot Summer Nights’ pool party.

Phyllis was soon flummoxed by the unexpected legal events. She, along with Nick, now need to help Summer get out of jail.

Ah, the drama is already heating up in this fictional daytime town. Summer’s return beat the arrival of the always-awaited hot season of the year.
