The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Phyllis Has Power at Jabot – Loyalty to Jack and Lauren Tested

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) finds herself in an interesting position on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She works for Lauren (Tracey Bregman), who was just co-opted by Kyle (Michael Mealor). At the same time, she retains her bond with Jack (Peter Bergman), who is in prison.

Having power is one thing. Knowing how and when to use it, another. So Phyllis will need to decide what’s best for her longterm survival if she goes against Jack, or if she opposes her boss, Lauren.

Kyle verbalized a bill of goods to Bregman’s character. That was a bit of a stretch, as the upstart Kyle has days of experiences as Jabot’s acting Chief Executive Officer, whereas Lauren has successfully swum in the business world for decades.

The idea that Lauren could be instantly swayed by Kyle’s claims of doing more for Fenmore’s is preposterous, but furthers the intended storyline conflict. That rub is that Kyle wants Lauren’s Board of Director’s support.

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) doesn’t want to show the ace she and Abby (Melissa Ordway) are holding, but may have to. Jack isn’t John’s (Jerry Douglas) son. Therefore, Kyle can’t be Jabot’s CEO due to the blood Abbott clause Jack created.

Jack also recently implemented that legal language to block Ashley from ousting him from the top chair, which spurned his sister’s move to Newman Enterprises. However, ‘Ash’ still holds a seat on the Jabot board.

Phyllis already holds power, but will gain move leverage if Ashley takes a risky step. She could clue Phyllis into Jack’s paternity issue, thereby neutralizing Kyle’s quest to retain power as part of his scheme with Victor (Eric Braeden) to take Jabot public and have the ‘Moustache’ buy the assets. Ashley may also need to tell Lauren that Kyle stands outside of the Abbott biology chain.

Underscoring all of the above is Ashley’s main dilemma. She needs to tell Jack at some point about his personal history that was shockingly revealed by Dina (Marla Adams) in recent days. As everything plays out it appears as though one of Jack’s ex-wives and possibly, his greatest love, could be a key cog in this process.
