The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Phyllis’ Career in Danger – Billy Relationship Bringing Her Down?

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) has put Billy’s (Jason Thompson) gambling addiction above her career interests on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Lauren (Tracey Bregman) isn’t impressed, which is creating problems for her best friend and right-hand employee at Fenmore’s.

Y&R viewers know that Phyllis was oddly written into being Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) best friend within the last year-plus. The departed GC Buzz host didn’t have anyone else she could talk to in Genoa City, or let’s be honest, all of Wisconsin, the United States, or the known world, during what proved to be a short life.

Well, Hilary has tragically departed. Morgan’s character’s need for a sounding board, other than Devon (Bryton James), has now ended. Bregman’s reappearance in recent weeks isn’t a coincidence, as Lauren and Phyllis were previously best friends for years.

Phyllis’ longtime link to Lauren, which developed through Michael’s (Christian Le Blanc) platonic bond with Michelle Stafford’s original edition of this character, enabled a position as Fenmore’s marketing and internet head. Phyllis left Jabot after the personal fallout with Jack (Peter Bergman) played out, which included the switch to Billy.

Lauren needs Phyllis to be accessible twenty-four seven. Relations with Fenmore’s forty-nine percent interest partner, Jabot, aren’t good because of Billy’s Jabotique plan. That alone created tension between Lauren and Phyllis.

The current head of Jabot has a well-earned reputation for leading people off-track whenever he restarts his self-destructive pattern. Phyllis’ presence in Las Vegas with the man she currently loves isn’t something Lauren will tolerate.

Billy’s high-stakes poker game next weekend could prove to be Phyllis’ jumping-off point. Maybe she’ll need to find a job as a dealer at one of the tables because Lauren is in no mood to deal with any more Billy-related excuses.

Lauren believes Fenmore’s future was needlessly endangered by Billy’s rapid startup boutique plans. She’s right. And, Phyllis’ continued walk on Philly’s tightrope could easily cause Tognoni’s character’s career to stop. Viewers will soon learn if that happens.
