The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Paul Circles Coverup Crew – J.T. Consequences Linger

Paul (Doug Davidson) is somewhat similar to Nick (Joshua Morrow) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Morrow’s character has often noticed the odd grouping of Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Vickie (Amelia Heinle), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), and Sharon (Sharon Case). But Paul is different than Nick. While he too has seen this grouping, Paul can also put the coverup crew in jail.

The J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) write-out story was seemingly shelved in the minds of the ladies referenced above after Nick revealed that he was gaslighting everyone. But the lingering issue involving the crimes Nikki, Vickie, Phyllis, and Sharon committed never really went away.

Paul continues to search for his freelance agent and perceived friend. Like many, the chief believes J.T. is alive because Vickie told him that she helped her fiance to escape town.

The story Vickie presented was an attempt at offering a selfless cover story. She didn’t want her mother, Phyllis, or Sharon to remain under a cloud. So, Vickie concocted that tale, which Paul bought at the time.

It does seem like Luckinbill’s main character has died. The use of the word main purposely implies that this well-liked actor could return in a different form. Executive producer and head writer Mal Young has previously said that J.T.’s overall story will play out in multiple parts, which the first two now having been completed.

Davidson’s character won’t relent and seems primed to either catch one member of this quartet in some type of lie, or discover evidence regarding J.T.’s actual fate. While it seems that the Chancellor Park burial ground is secure, that specific spot remains the key to what may be the next climax.

Y&R’s fans prefer some form of better closure. J.T.’s devolution was oddly written and played into people’s worst stereotypes of elements within the human character. Mr. Hellstrom’s sudden end conflicted with the reality of the normal person he’d been and also felt a bit rushed and therefore incomplete. Possibly a further outcome will provide a more fitting resolution, or at least allow Luckinbill to return to the cast in whatever way is possible, even including more limited-run stints.
