The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: No, Hilary Isn’t Pregnant – Devon’s Life Shifts Again

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) was telling the truth on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Her pregnancy test yielded a positive result. But a follow-up doctor’s appointment revealed that the initial outcome wasn’t correct. So Hilary isn’t carrying Devon’s (Bryton James) child.

Of course, Hilary could opt to play out a ruse for a handful of weeks. Pretending that she’s pregnant, while knowing said truth isn’t real would lead to a fairly quick choice. Fake a loss, later acknowledge what the doctor advised, do both, or simply inform Mr. Hamilton what happened.

Devon has already stated that he does not want to have a baby with Hilary if she isn’t already pregnant. If Simone (Shanica Knowles) didn’t exist it would be more likely that he could be persuaded into changing his mind. But Lily (Christel Khalil) saw an opening and invited LP’s newest recording artist to also work as a model. That chess move purposely positioned Simone in Devon’s path. To-date Lily’s strategy is working.

At this point Hilary is facing the loss of the one tie that would have bound her to Devon forever. Their hoped-for child seemingly won’t happen. But there is an overriding factor that puts Simone at a disadvantage, love.

Hilary and Devon still care deeply for each other. Devon likes Simone, but he surely doesn’t love her, yet. So time now becomes a factor. Will Hilary be able to back off and wait out ‘Sevon’, ‘Dimone’, or whatever tag is applied to this potential couple?

The handling of however Devon learns the revoked birth announcement will be crucial. If Hilary is honest, she’ll at least gain a modicum of Devon’s sympathy, though not restored trust. Too much history exists for that to happen, which is a significant problem.

The direction that Y&R wants to take this arc will prove interesting. The development of Knowles’ character will be a key factor to watch. If she becomes a regular player, than Hilary could be indefinitely checked. But if Simone is merely part of ‘Hevon’s’ backstory, then a true reunion, including a confirmed pregnancy, will become possible.
