It’s fair to suggest that dialogue leading out of the head-conk, body-bury event made the personas Scott and Tognoni embody appear one-dimensional. Only a cold-blooded killer and a seasoned criminal would react like Nikki and Phyllis did. They seemed totally okay with having snuffed out J.T. in B-movie fashion, where slanted emotions rule.
Vickie (Amelia Heinle) and Sharon (Sharon Case) have evidenced reactions that would be expected in the real world. Reed’s (Tristan Lake Leabu) mother is a wreck. Sharon is barely keeping herself together and is arguably behaving like any moral, rational individual would.
Sharon’s recent press for a resolution unearthed the seeming feelings that Nikki and Phyllis have. Nikki finally admitted that she wasn’t okay with what happened, but was merely defending her daughter. Phyllis is mostly concerned with the quartet being exposed and therefore imprisoned, which writes back the character Tognoni currently portrays to Michelle Stafford’s era.
People react to a shock in varying ways based upon their own lives. Subjective second-guesses, as this digital review is, can therefore be seen as unjust. But human beings have opinions. All voiced theories (which aren’t facts) offered in the public square therefore don’t likely represent humility, but one’s take on the world.

Nikki reacted instinctively, as many parents (both mothers and fathers) would. That would have been explainable. Phyllis defaulted into cover-up mode because she once ran down Paul (Doug Davidson) and Christine (Lauralee Bell), wasn’t prosecuted, and believes that a revenge play would have been used against her, though not necessarily the rest of the crowd that was gathered at Vickie’s house on that fated-night.
Vickie was in danger and thankfully was aided by loved ones and two unexpected friends. As for Sharon, she’s turned her life around after many long years. Now, faced with a bizarre situation, Case’s character finds herself forced to withhold the truth from her loved ones, most importantly Nick (Joshua Morrow), again.
Being soap, this dilemma won’t stay buried (sorry, that image had to be used). Soon all four people will face the consequences of their divergent actions.
