Dark Horse isn’t just some new company, or competitor to Victor’s global conglomerate. Instead, it represents a direct threat to all that the ‘Moustache’ has built during his adult life. It’s aim is to seize control of family power and transfer it to Lord Nicholas.
Entitled. That specific word is one that is referenced by all who believe that Nick’s attitude about all things Victor is steeped in everything his father has provided to him. Yes, that does include the many moments of conflict that were forcibly injected into Nick’s life, as well as those of other Newman family members.
Morrow’s character is using the Newman name to poach business partners and clients. So far that effort is allowing the revenge startup company to trample Newman. This is soap, so surely reprisal and a rebalancing of power will be seen as this seemingly longterm arc plays out. But for the moment, Nick has one over on Victor.
The recent loss of Ashley (Eileen Davidson), who was only employed by Newman for a handful of weeks, puts Newman in a precarious position. Facing the serious threat that Dark Horse offers, Victor needs a seasoned, connected executive staff. Vickie and Nikki don’t represent enough volume to fight Nick’s full frontal assault.
The outset of Nick’s intended legacy restoring venture includes the transfer of Noah’s (Robert Adamson) and Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) loyalties. That’s a decent start, but Nick will need to pick off Vickie (Amelia Heinle), or Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) in order to truly throw Victor’s company off-balance.
Viewers are anticipating either lady, or both ladies, having it out with Victor in the near future. That dust up would then lead to a reconsideration and acceptance of Nick’s Dark Horse offer(s).
Victor could easily be left without any family members at his company in the not-too-distant future. The image of him sitting alone, staring at his own oil-based portrait would be epic. Possibly at that point Nick would have already commissioned a holographic image of himself appearing in his own chief executive office, maybe sitting atop a horse?
