Nick (Joshua Morrow) vowed to bring down Victor (Eric Braeden) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Sharon (Sharon Case) believed that the ‘Moustache’ appeared frightened by his son’s threat. Yes, it is possible that the line Victor crossed could be his last.
Nick’s threat was specific. He promised his dad to take what was most precious to him, family. Victor’s reaction, while his eyeglasses sat perched halfway down his nose, wasn’t expected anger. He remained silent while the gathered Genoa City Athletic Club lunch crowd was forced to witness the Newman clan’s dysfunction and Sharon stood aghast. Yes, he did appear scared.

While Victor has gained temporary custody of Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen), it’s plausible, if not likely, that something will befall Victor rather soon. Might that allow Nick to take what he promised? Viewers should see that answer play out in early summer.
Braeden is masterfully portraying a frail ‘Black Knight’. It appeared as though Y&R was going to have Victor bounce back from J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) attack. But about a week after the movie house incident, where Victor seemed to be responsible for inserting Dina’s (Marla Adams) paternity reveal into Charlie’s (Noah Alexander Gerry) documentary-style feature, Braeden evidenced a far more noticeably feeble alter ego.
Victor’s voice has weakened, sometimes to the point of a whisper in recent weeks. He appears to be having trouble standing and shuffles with a noticeable gait. An initial sign of his recovery going backward was when he needed to lean on the frame of the cottage after Nick slammed the door in his face upon first learning of the now realized custody battle.
While Michael (Christian Le Blanc) helped Victor exit the arbitration hearing room, ‘Shick’ and Brittany (Lauren Woodland) didn’t speak a line of dialogue about Victor’s obviously frail condition. Based on past similar character ignores, something must be coming where Victor’s health is concerned.
It could be that Y&R is planning a deeper health crisis than what Victor faced earlier this spring. Seasoned viewers are prepared for this power struggle to dramatically turn.
