The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Neil Shuts Hilary Down – Grieving Nate Caring for Victor

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) has made many steps forward on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But this week she took one back.

Hilary recognized that she’d made a mistake in assuming Nate’s (Brooks Darnell) life status when in actuality he was still grieving the loss of a loved one whose date of passing just crossed the one-year mark.

Neil (Kristoff St. John) billed it as a welcome home party. The small, family get-together could have also been dubbed a house-warming, as his move into the penthouse ‘Chadam’ and more recently, ‘Chick’ occupied only happened weeks ago.

A day before the gathering, Nate was persuaded by his uncle to come to Genoa City. Victor (Eric Braeden) stopped over and then Darnell’s storyline was laid out for viewers. Nate came to town so he could secretly take care of the ‘Moustache’.

Hilary’s pry into Nate’s personal life didn’t yield the result she anticipated and caused her to leave Neil’s swanky new digs with her head down. However, now that Nate has attracted her interest it’s become possible that Hilary will learn of Victor’s concierge care plan.

As fans were told, Victor’s plan is to come to Neil’s place and be cared for by Nate. That arrangement will theoretically allow Victor to stay out of the public’s eye at a time when serious questions about his health were just witnessed live on GC Buzz and then written about in an online story that was written by Scott Grainger (Daniel Hall).

Neil told Hilary why Nate didn’t want to answer her personal questions. Hilary was ashamed and thanked the people she considers to be her family for cluing her in about his status. Of course, they hadn’t because they don’t trust her.

Tenured fans of this iconic soap recall that Nate’s father, Nathan Hastings, Sr. (who was originally played by Nathan Purdee) was killed by a car. He’d kidnapped Nate (who was a young child at the time) and was returning him to Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams), Nate’s mother, outside of the building where they lived.

So, tragedy is a more recent element in Nate’s life. But it’s not new to him.
