The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Neil Makes Peace – Hilary’s Exit Story Flows

Neil (Kristoff St. John) was targeted by Ann Turner (Mishael Morgan) when she first came to Genoa City on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She believed, with applied created flashbacks that served to inform a curious audience, that he had left her mother for dead, via alcohol poisoning, in a hotel room years earlier. Neil hadn’t and that intro established the character who became Hilary Curtis.

Hilary was the new name Ann gave to herself. After learning the truth about her mom, she made peace with Neil and later, soapily married him. ‘Heil’, or ‘Nilary’ if one prefers didn’t last because Devon (Bryton James) was part of the Winters’ clan.

James spoke fitting lines of dialogue during ‘Hevon’s’ wedding ceremony that took place in Hilary’s Genoa City Memorial hospital room. Devon advised that everything changed, forever, the moment he saw her. Hilary responded with a ditto and then gifted him with her own insights into their love.

The Hilary everyone is seeing now looks like who Morgan actually is. Behind-the-scenes Y&R videos, including a recent one that included James and served as Morgan’s official goodbye to the fans, reveal a sweet person who values her fans and devotees of this soap. James has always presented himself as being equally appreciative. It’s easy to root for good souls.

Real life glimpses have made it easier for Y&R’s devoted observers to wish Morgan well as she departs. In the old days, grocery store print magazine covers would hint at cast changes, or announce them, if one hadn’t trained their eyes to avoid those pre-internet reveals.

Knowing that Morgan has already left the cast and has bid goodbye to her supporters allowed many to at least be prepared for what’s playing out now. However, even considering the above, Y&R is clearly besting expectations by delivering an intelligent, believable write-out that does justice to who Hilary was and always will be. Kudos to all at Y&R and to all devoted observers who value great soap and the talent that makes it happen.
