Nate (now played by Brooks Darnell) certainly triggered Hilary (Mishael Morgan) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The mere sight of Olivia’s (Tonya Lee Williams) recast son sent the mother of Devon’s (Bryton James) child into a tizzy. Hilary’s interest in Darnell’s recast character also could spell trouble for ‘Hevon’.
Longtime Y&R fans know that this particular character wasn’t overly SORAS’d. Olivia and Nathan Hastings, Senior (as then originally played by Nathan Purdee) welcomed their newborn son into Genoa City in 1992. The only child they ever had was initially portrayed by child actor Christopher Pope in 1995, and then by three other child actors until Darnell was recently hired.
It’s always intriguing to see if this soap, as with others, has recast a role in order to reopen family links that were once gushing. Williams was terrific during her Y&R runs (1990-2005, 2007-2012). She, along with Victoria Rowell (Olivia’s sister, Drucilla) created many memorable moments individually and together, as did their eventual family members.

Neil (Kristoff St. John) welcomed his nephew home in a finely played episode that included many humorous moments with the departing Mishael Morgan. Fans can only imagine what Morgan’s version of Hilary would have done to, or with Nate in the future. The Young and the Restless viewers will see what, if anything, happens during these summer months as Morgan’s tenure comes to a conclusion.
Hilary is nosy, as Neil told Nate. Sure enough, later that same day Hilary went across the hall to learn more about the mystery man, who she first eyed at the Hamilton Winters Group offices.
The introductory scene between Morgan and Darnell was an instant classic. Hilary pushing her fame on Nate, who had been forewarned by his uncle about this ex-wife, couldn’t care less. That infuriated Hilary, who then phoned a GC Buzz employee. Orders were given to create a dossier on Neil’s godson.
The audience came to know the real reason behind Nate’s arrival. His secret treatment of Victor (Eric Braeden) is something that the ‘Moustache’ absolutely wouldn’t want Hilary to learn and then broadcast on the eponymous ‘Hilary Hour’.
