The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Mariah Must Help Tessa – Crisis Confronted

Mariah (Camryn Grimes) is following up on a call she recently received from Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The latest crisis connected to Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) will again draw Mariah into a crisis that she’ll help to resolve.

Tessa intended to leave Genoa City forever. Last month, she needed to help her sister escape another dangerous situation that involved the former life she’d been dragged into by Zack (Ryan Ashton). Eventually, Crystal wiped Zack from the earth, which forced Obenreder’s character to be written out of the show.

Crystal was said to have been living in a more secure area, safe from the organized crime members that Zack was connected to. Y&R revived that part of Tessa’s backstory this summer, which appears to be a plot vehicle that will now further Mariah’s next adventure.

Neil (Kristoff St. John) didn’t take kindly to Fairbank’s character having left her job at the Hamilton-Winters Group without proper notice, then returning for a few days before departing again.

Devon (Bryton James) was understanding when he learned what Tessa’s actions were linked to. Mariah has explained Tessa’s situation as being vital, while also noting that she does expect to return to GC as soon as Crystal’s safety has been reassured.

Grimes returned to the cast full-time in 2014. Her near-decade absence, with occasional appearances as Cassie’s spirit, left a hole in the show. The original character she portrayed, from 1997-2005, was beloved and missed ever since she was killed off as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident.

It’s fair to assert that Grimes was the greatest child actor in Y&R’s history. Her revival, as Cassie’s unknown identical twin Mariah, has served to deepen this actor’s legacy.

Mariah’s existence allows longtime fans to enjoy Grimes work again, while also showcasing her seemingly ever-lengthening range. Sure, she was terrific as a child actor. But Grimes second character delivers great soap in a different way, especially including Mariah’s relationship with Sharon (Sharon Case).

Mariah’s most recent storyline affirms that she is, without question, a fully versatile actor. Grimes timing, sense of humor, and consistent ability to elicit compassion from the audience is inspiring. Kudos to Y&R and to Grimes for taking a significant risk that has paid off dramatically.
