The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Lily Pushed Hilary Into Devon’s Arms – Lane’s Plan Backfires

Oh, Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) had a few laughs on ‘The Young and the Restless’. They locked Hilary (Mishael Morgan) in the Hamilton Winters Group’s main office last week. But hours later, ‘Lane’s’ plan to prevent Hilary’s needed medical procedure became moot.

Lily has renewed her campaign against Hilary. After learning that Devon (Bryton James) actually wanted to have a baby with Morgan’s character, something had to be done. But what Lily didn’t realize and her husband couldn’t see is that their actions served to make Hilary the aggrieved party.

Devon has never stopped loving Hilary and she has never stopped loving him. Their bond wasn’t broken when ‘Hevon’ ended early last year. The terms of their split were actually cordial. Hilary’s only request was that she be given GC Buzz. Devon quickly agreed, but maintained his presence. That was revealing.

HWG didn’t need to specifically purchase GC Buzz in order to further its burgeoning corporate portfolio, but it did. Obviously, Devon made that move for personal reasons. Why else would he allow Hilary to work out of his office?

Viewer perspective came into play when Devon later agreed to fund Lily’s modeling venture. Choosing to place his sister in the same office with Hilary and himself reestablished a clear dynamic. Whether one saw that development in a negative or positive way is dependent upon which character(s) one is rooting for.

Devon’s choice to not only support Hilary’s baby decision, but to become her or his father didn’t revive ‘Hevon’. No, that’s where Lily and Cane miscalculated. Devon and Hilary are creating something new in addition to the hoped-for baby. It’s called ‘Hevon’ II.

‘Lane’s’ plan to stop Hilary’s plan backfired because Lily and Cane are working off old scripts. Devon has adjusted the power-share between himself and Hilary this time around. He learned from their time apart, as did Hilary.

The addition of a child into their lives will deeply alter how this couple interact with each other. Devon will no longer be doting on Hilary. Instead, he’ll be focused on what’s best for their baby, as will Hilary.

Of course some drama will still be seen. But what Lily and Cane don’t seem to grasp, or accept is the potential for Hilary to have grown and for Devon to have matured.
