The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Lily and Cane Make Slow Progress – Lane Remains In Love

Love supports the possibility that Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily (Christel Khalil) will reunite on ‘The Young and the Restless’. This isn’t an eventuality, however. Both halves of this still-married couple must continue their slow, but steady progress back to each other with open minds and truthful consideration of each other’s emotions.

It takes consistent effort to make any romantic relationship work, as everyone who’s ever experienced a lasting one can attest. Being in so-called sync involves open communication, even when that doesn’t seem possible.

Cane and Lily have been sending each other signals, which indicates a desire to get back together. But a lack of direct talk about their true feelings has resulted in miscommunication and unintended messages being read.

Jill (Jess Walton) didn’t mince words. She directly told both parties to make amends. Say whatever one wants about Mrs. Atkinson’s methods, but she desires the best for her family members and friends. And the bluntness of her intent might have pushed ‘Lane’ in the right direction.

It’s fully understandable that Lily was hesitant to welcome Cane back into her life. That would have meant opening her heart, which had been lanced by her husband’s mistakes. However, time creates perspective and eventual healing.

The Juliet (Laur Allen) issue transformed into a baby. Sam’s existence may actually serve to rekindle what once was a great marriage between his father and Lily.

It will take time for Khalil’s character to think of Sam as more than Juliet’s son. He’s a reflection of Cane and also a living representation of a redemptive opportunity this husband and wife team can take, if they are both willing to do so.

The encouragement of Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) is an important element in this mix that also can’t be overlooked. The twins are on-board in wanting their parents to reunite. Mattie will veer toward Sam, as Charlie has already done.

Lily, like other normal mothers, will be influenced by her children’s feelings. As the winter unfolds she also might be willing to allow Cane’s love to warm her heart again.
