The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Lane Offers Valentine’s Day Lesson – Love Rules

Lily (Christel Khalil) forgave Cane (Daniel Goddard), which saved their marriage on ‘The Young and the Restless’. This positive soap opera storyline offers a lesson to all devoted observers. Love rules on Valentine’s Day and throughout the year when one isn’t self-centered.

It would have been easy for Mrs. Ashby to walk away from Cane when the Juliet (Laur Allen) incident was revealed. Not only did said event happen, but then Mr. Ashby concealed what took place in Tokyo, Japan, after Miss Helton filled him in.

Old-fashioned minds pretend that self-promotion is something new. “Lily, leave your soul mate!” Yes, that’s what they cheered her to do. But those regressive believers couldn’t overcome Lily’s strong will, which included her belief in sacrifice.

All who cite Lily’s past cavort with Joe (Scott Elrod) attempt to throw a red herring into today’s arc. Cane’s forgiveness of his wife’s mistake overrides all outside opinions of who Lily is today.

Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) matter more than any personal slight. That’s also why Lily was able to get by Cane’s reckless act of jealousy that compelled him to sabotage Billy’s DARE commercial shoot.

Jesse’s (Max Adler) resulting blackmail efforts made Cane believe that stealing the twin’s school fund was justified, when it absolutely wasn’t. But Lily eventually saw everything in context. She realized that the lives of her children and the love she never lost for her husband was more important that any self-centered reaction.

Cane has offered sincere contrition for months. Since the start of the year, he’s been hard at work on personal and career restoration. His hopes led to a beautiful Paris, France, reconciliation and, in time, a hopeful bond forming between Lily and his newest son, Sam.
