The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Jack’s Life Changes Twice – Jailed and Not An Abbott

Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) existence will never be the same on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Being jailed is actually the lesser of this apparently misnamed man’s worries. Soon Bergman’s character will learn that John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) was, as with Ashley (Eileen Davidson), never connected to him by blood.

Three syllables, Jack Abbott, flow from the tongue so easily because, well, that’s who Bergman has played since 1989. The alternate character this great actor embodied a few years ago, Marco Anacelli, doesn’t count within this incredible storyline that’s developing.

Abby (Melissa Ordway) learned the seeming truth about her uncle when she was recording Dina (Marla Adams) recently. Those video sessions have proven to be far more than endearing, instead they’ve become eye-popping. John isn’t Jack’s father! How can that be?

Y&R nicely established that Dina’s memory is sharp by having her accurately recall a bizarre Genoa City weather event in the distant past and the exact address of a motel that still exists, though under a different business name. Those purposeful dialogue points, among others, made the later revelation about Jack digestible rather than a rant uttered by a confused poor soul.

Jack has been put behind bars because he’s thought to have beaten Victor and then pushed him down the stairs. He’ll be cleared of those charges as soon as J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) is tagged by the ‘Black Knight’, unless Victor plays games with his longtime nemesis.

So who is Jack’s real father is John isn’t? That’s the cleverly plotted secondary tease. Ashley and Abby confirmed through a secret DNA test that Jack’s not an Abbott, but they don’t know who the mystery man is, or was.

Dina’s inability to name Jack’s daddy creates a tantalizing mini-arc. Might he be related to Victor, Jill (Jess Walton), Lauren (Tracey Bregman), both ladies, another tenured character, the Brooks’ family, etc.? Y&R fans could learn the truth this month, though May Sweeps would be the more likely time for this storyline to reach it’s next climax.
