Jack (Peter Bergman) took to the bottle on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Fading back to his childhood once again, but this time the Abbott servants weren’t nursing him while Dina (Marla Adams) cavorted and John (Jerry Douglas) may, or may not have known that ‘Jackie’ wasn’t his son. The last sentence was quite the scripted mouthful, as is the so-called Abbott family’s increasing drama.
Why would anyone base a conclusion about paternity on Jill’s (Jess Walton) track record? Yet that’s what Jack did. He’s opted to believe the biological mismatch between he and Billy (Jason Thompson) means everything, when it doesn’t.

Yes, it could be that Billy is John’s son and therefore Jack isn’t. It could also be that the test Ashley (Eileen Davidson) conducted, where Jack’s and Traci’s (Beth Maitland) hair samples were compared, means that Maitland’s character is John’s daughter and therefore Jack isn’t his son. But why hasn’t Jack, or any other character considered that Traci and Billy have another father? Savvy fans entertained both thoughts and then combined them.
In order to extend this injected storyline through May Sweeps, Y&R has sent Jack on an emotional detour. First, he went to the Abbott cabin and burned the family scrapbook. Yikes! That means those old-school pics are lost forever unless Kyle (Michael Mealor) rushed in and saved the memory keeper (wink, memory stick) from being burned before Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Arturo (Jason Canela) arrived. No, that would be too soapy.
So, after talking to his father, without a hoped-for appearance from Jerry Douglas, Jack took an inebriated drive to the Abbott cabin. After a short stay and the aforementioned book-burning, he set out with an obtained bottle on a reckless drive on a dark night and crashed his staged car.

Viewers knew why Abby and Arturo were actually in the proximity. They’ll be able to save Jack, while also furthering ‘Abturo’. But they also feel a climax is coming.
Just another wild ride with Jack. Meanwhile many seasoned daytime devotees are waiting for confirmation that he’s actually an Abbott after all, which appears to be this arc’s endgame.
