The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Jack Loses to Victor Again – Genoa City Foil Falters

Jack (Peter Bergman) thought his plan was foolproof on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Erase proof from the compound word in the last sentence and that’s who Mr. Abbott has reverted to once again.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) didn’t get to where he is by cheating, or at least he hasn’t done so one-hundred percent of the time. The ‘Moustache’, ‘Black Knight’, ‘Lurch’ or whatever slur Jack chooses to use merely underscores the jealously he has for a man who’s bested him on innumerable occasions. His refusal to recognize the flaw within his own soul blinds him to Victor’s strengths.

Just when all involved characters in Genoa City believed that Jack couldn’t alienate Ashley (Eileen Davidson) further, he did. Just when it seemed that John’s (Jerry Douglas) non-biological daughter couldn’t be more motivated to work against her half-brother, she is.

Y&R established Jack’s role as the eternal loser long ago. The main role he plays in the fictional Wisconsin town is Victor’s foil. Having the oaf around makes Braeden’s character all the more classic, depending upon viewer’s tastes.

Of course Victor was planning to use Ashley’s insider knowledge against Jabot when he hired her as his Chief Innovation Officer. But he had no current beef with Jack until the espionage scheme was hatched.

Conspiring with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to work against Ashley put Victor at odds with his first-born daughter. Newman’s Chief Executive Officer will surely make Jabot’s leader pay dearly for that bad dynamic.

Anyone who still supports Jack may cite the Marco Annicelli (also played masterfully by Bergman) invasion as Mr. Abbott’s eternal reason to play his nemesis back. Boyish ‘Jackie’ is going to learn that his groupies are misguided in holding that perspective.

Tenured viewers recognize that Jack released his invented ideology, to avoid battling Victor, within the last year. He’s back to fighting his rival again, choosing to believe that Wile E. Coyote will catch the Road Runner this time.

Easily ranking with the best punch, counterpunch pairings in daytime, Bergman and Braeden have collaborated to create an enduring duo that seems set to battle indefinitely. May their great work flow forever.
