Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) has been between Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’ for about three years. But now she’s helping them to heal, instead of serving as a focal point of competition.
Billy embezzled from Jabot. He’s owning up to it and wants to make amends. Thankfully he still considers Phyllis to be a confident because their romantic bond just might save his life and the company from legal trouble and public embarrassment.
Jack does not want the Abbott family legacy to be destroyed any further. So, he’ll agree to loan Billy some of the money he misappropriate from Jabot’s accounts.
As Y&R viewers recall, Billy ordered Gloria (Judith Chapman) to transfer five hundred thousand dollars from Jabot’s coffers to a gambling syndicate. The half-million dollar steal satisfied a buy-in to the gambler’s conglomerate he learned about via email.
Imagine how Jack will react when, not if, he learns that his son, Kyle (Michael), orchestrated the email solicitation that was forwarded to Billy. Kyle intended to trigger Billy and he did.
At first Billy starts to act prideful like he doesn’t need help. Jack gives him a “Dude, you better recognize!” speech and he changes his tone. He needs his big brother. #YR #Philly #TheAbbotts pic.twitter.com/EROIMQi0xa

It appears that Eileen Davidson’s (Ashley) voluntary departure from the cast will, in some way, be tied to her character’s tie to Kyle’s shameful actions. While Ashley didn’t participate in both setups, the first of which involved paying Sinead Lira Kellerman) to lure Billy to Las Vegas, she was aware that Kyle was playing dirty pool in order to bring Thompson’s alter ego down.
Projecting Ashley out of the storyline in coming weeks, Traci (Beth Maitland) only agreeing to be a temporary Chief Executive Officer, and Billy’s ouster, there would only be two remaining options to lead Jabot, namely Kyle and his dad.
Phyllis’ heartfelt effort to have Jack help Billy out of his latest jam appears to also serve as Jack’s reentry point. Yes, the blood-Abbott clause still prevents any non-Abbott, like Ashley, from taking control. But that plot point feels primed to change as well.

The company bylaw could be altered in the meantime, thereby enabling Jack to return to his office before his paternity quest is written to a climax. But compelling soap would have both points of conflict smash against each other simultaneously.
