After using blood type logic to rule out a genetic connection to Jack (Peter Bergman), Lauren (Tracey Bregman) recognized a photographed face on ‘The Young and the Restless’. So too did seasoned entertainment viewers. The black and white photo Jack viewed with a magnifying glass revealed the late, great George Kennedy (Albert Miller) as a young man in the 1950’s.
Of course the picture that may have been taken with a Kodak camera couldn’t possibly have captured Kennedy’s face. Y&R didn’t debut until 1973 and Kennedy first played Victor’s (Eric Braeden) father in 2010. However, the plot point asked viewers to suspend disbelief (again) in order to further Jack’s paternity storyline.
Ash and Jack?My favorite sibling relationship..it’s so painful to even watch #YR knowing Eileen’s exit is near. 2018, you’ve been full of too much loss in the soap world.? pic.twitter.com/7tEqxEf0nw

The first apparent clue involved Phillip Chancellor II (Donnelly Rhodes) being considered. Kyle (Michael Mealor) literally dug up Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) and Jill’s (Jess Walton) beloved’s coffin. A DNA test was conducted which then nixed Jack as a Chancellor. This proved to simply be the first red herring Y&R threw at its audience as part of this paternity storyline.
Most recently, Lauren happened by the Abbott estate looking for Phyllis (Gina Tognoni). That script vehicle ruse used to create dialogue with Jack about the quest for his real dad. The unlikely nature of Y&R having Bergman’s unsettled character actually be the half-brother of both Lauren and Jill was almost instantly discarded.
Seriously, how much longer is this “Jack Needs A Daddy” s/l going to go on? I still can’t believe they de-Abbotted him. I’m over it. Figure it out, give him back his birthright, let’s move on. #YR pic.twitter.com/4vRZs1mBTW

Neil Fenmore’s (Jim Storm) fatherly potential was abruptly dismissed within two episodes, as the paternity climax wave appeared to rise. Lauren referenced Stuart Brooks (Robert Colbert) as also being in the photograph. But that option was shelved as soon as Lauren recognized another man’s image.

Albert could be Jack’s dad for a number of reasons. He is known to only have one other child, Matt (Robert Parucha). So there’s no sibling problem, as would have been true within the Fenmore family and would be true with the Brooks’ clan. And, of course, Albert is Victor’s father!
It still feels like Jack’s pursuit will somehow lead him back to John’s (Jerry Douglas) genetic pool. But having Jack and Victor be half-brothers would be epic, if the latest theory proves true. On its own, this idea offers the greatest potential for dynamic, enduring daytime drama.
