The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Jack Considers Phillip Chancellor II – Kyle Supports Him

Jack (Peter Bergman) has his real son, Kyle (Michael Mealor), by his side on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Together they’ve learned that the late Phillip Chancellor II (as was played by the late Donnelly Rhodes) could be, emphasis on the word ‘could’, Jack’s biological father.

Kyle has hopefully made a smart turn by backing his own real father. He appears to have turned away from Victor (Eric Braeden) and their scheme to bring Jack down. However, once someone breaks trust, as Kyle did, it’s hard to know if that individual is being truthful thereafter, or, if an impulse revert to ruthlessness might happen at any moment. Yes, the ruthless reference was offered as a reminded of Victor’s infamous and still apt nickname.

Y&R has, in effect, created a buddy for Jack to be with as he pursues this journey toward his paternity answers. By the way, the word ‘journey’ and all things connected to people’s me-first expressions often comes across as self-centeredness. So, let’s rewrite that and say that Jack is pursuing answers about whether a man beyond John (Jerry Douglas) is his actual father.

The black and white photo Jack pulled from a safe deposit box that Dina’s (Marla Adams) found key opened showed a mid-1950’s scene. Genoa City’s jet set then included John and Dina Abbott, along with Phillip and Katherine Chancellor (as played by Y&R’s greatest-ever cast member, Jeanne Cooper).

“More circumstantial evidence”, Kyle could have said. But the show’s writing staff has been instructed to keep all characters from offering that logic.

Prior non-cemented proof included Traci’s (Beth Maitland) and Billy’s (Jason Thompson) DNA sample mismatching Jack’s. If Jack remains an Abbott after his journey, uh, pursuit of the truth, then Traci might not be Dina’s daughter and Billy may not be Jill’s (Jess Walton) son.

Considering what Dina revealed to Ashley (Eileen Davidson) in the mid-1980’s, and what Madame Mergeron has since dished about a subsequent dalliance with a man whose name she can’t recall, it is possible that Phillip is Jack’s dad. Then again, some other guy might hold that honor, or John could be confirmed as Jack’s father as this storyline plays out.
