In one daytime afternoon Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) made two choices on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) kind-hearted suggestion was mutually agreed to; Traci (Beth Maitland) would fly with Dina (Marla Adams) to Paris for a ‘temporary’ visit. The Abbott siblings also reached agreement on another front, business.
People with plenty of money agree to arbitration to settle disputes. Those who live below the upper class generally hash things out without the help of Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc), or fellow lawyer and new character, Tony (Michael Masini). Those men will be handling the negotiations that will decide who runs the family company.
Can’t this brother-sister combination agree to work together? Why can’t they be co-CEO’s at Jabot?

All who say that their battles to-date erase the possibility of collaborating in the cosmetics’ company top spot are short-sighted. Considering all that’s happened with Dina and the pressure of that wrenching personal decision now having been mutually made, the siblings might be able to power-share because the personal pressures caused by their mother have been shifted overseas.
Regarding Dina, it will be interesting to see how long this character remains in France. Hopefully Adams hasn’t departed the cast forever, meaning that Y&R won’t have Dina die, or become debilitated off-screen.
Considering Ordway’s maternity leave, it seems likely that Abby won’t be seen, or she’ll continue appearing through video chats on occasion. The Dina decision that was suggested by Abby appears to write out three characters (Dina, Abby and Traci).

Adams could return at any point, if Y&R so desires. Ordway will again be seen as Abby on a full-time basis, sometime in the spring, or summer. Maitland’s Traci is a recurring character, who generally appears when a major Abbott event takes place.
Adams’ presence and her many great performances injected (yes, that’s a Graham, Max Shippee, reference) a fantastic element into the show. It would be worthwhile to continue following Dina’s story moving forward, as the effects of her Alzheimer’s condition can continue to provide the Abbott characters with meaningful storyline work.
