So J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) recently revealed undercover work has likely played into his mood swings on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But that doesn’t fully explain all incidents of erratic behavior and his sudden forgetfulness this week. Hoped-for thoughts of Mr. Hellstrom’s health crisis having dissipated seemed lost as ongoing incidents that are likely connected to his heart issue continue to appear.
Billy (Jason Thompson) arrived at Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) house to pick up the kids. J.T. was miffed at that as he though he’d sent Vickie’s ex-husband a text with a change in plans. That wasn’t done.
Later, a Valentine’s Day redo was attempted at the Top of the Tower. But no table was available because J.T. forget to hit send on his prepared email request.
Vickie knows that J.T. was electrocuted years ago. Dialogue and a flashback provided memory refreshers for seasoned viewers and information for newer fans in this regard.
Seeing J.T. take prescription medication was initially troubling. He was shown visiting the hospital and subsequently spoke of the ongoing checkups he receives. So the medicine issue was explained. But is that drug working, or able to keep a potentially uncontainable problem in check?
Time has passed in Genoa City since Luckinbill first debuted in 1999. Nearly twenty years in both soap and real time makes J.T. a middle-aged man.
Normally, without the shock he endured, health wouldn’t be an issue. But that point now clearly appears to be influencing J.T.’s life, with however much of it remains for him.
Luckinbill publicly stated that J.T.’s storyline could last through February, or March, depending upon how matters developed. With days remaining in this month it seems probable that Vickie’s revived love interest will be in town and alive into March.
Is a heart attack coming? Might J.T. be suffering from some type of ailment that resulted from his original heart event?

Those questions, or others can’t be answered yet. But the hurried nature of J.T.’s personal and business arcs allows viewers to guess that Luckinbill isn’t a longterm cast returnee. Hopefully that guess doesn’t prove true, because he’s a solid actor. But it if does, sad episodes appear to lie ahead.
