Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) suffered another Multiple Sclerosis flair-up on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Meanwhile, Sharon (Sharon Case) remains conflicted about the J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) incident.
After an initial verbal skirmish, both ladies consoled each other. Nikki and Sharon share quite a bitter history. But when a recent crisis happened, Sharon supported her once and potentially future mother-in-law.
Case’s character agrees with Scott’s alter ego. Nikki was acting in self-defense when she bludgeoned Mr. Hellstrom in Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) bedroom. However, that act did involve Nikki’s free will choice of picking up a conveniently available fireplace poker (in a set that appeared to be created for said dramatic event) and specifically conking J.T. on the head, instead of the arm, backside, or leg.

So, it appears as though the then two-time killer struck with intent to kill the man who became her third victim. Nikki previously erased her father, in a referenced scene that took place prior in past history, but was never seen, and more recently, Diane (Maura West). Those soapy situations were also tagged as self-defense.
Relating to Nikki’s most recent non-crime, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) jumped into action and orchestrated the coverup scheme that never needed to happen. As Sharon has said, Lily’s (Christel Khalil) situation provides an example where people can come clean to the authorities.
While the circumstances Nikki faced were vastly different than those Lily unknowingly drove into, no one can argue that Mrs. Ashby plotted and then withheld information about an extended misdirection, meaning a lie.
Nikki believes that her latest MS occurrence is related to the ongoing stress she’s experiencing as a result of various events, including the lingering J.T. issue. Sharon remains conflicted about not reporting what happened to Paul (Doug Davidson), as she continues to stress Nikki’s true intent, to protect Victoria.
This is a soap opera, so hardcore fans know that all will emerge eventually. Keen readers of this comprehensive site also know that executive producer and head writer Mal Young recently said that J.T.’s storyline is playing out in multiple chapters, with the first two now being over. That wink to viewers appeared to mean that more was to come, as Y&R fans should soon witness.
