The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: J.T. Defends Dina – Graham’s Reign of Terror Continues

One would think that the Abbott’s would be able to deal with Graham (Max Shippee) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But no, they can’t. So J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) thankfully came to Dina’s (Marla Adams) rescue at the Genoa City Athletic Club.

Hardcore soap viewers must applaud Y&R’s injection of the serious Alzheimer’s issue into daytime. The arc that Adams was given and her colleagues who play Abbott’s (Jack, Peter Bergman, Ashley (though not by birth), Eileen Davidson, Traci (Beth Maitland), Abby (though half-Newman), Melissa Ordway and even Billy (Jason Thompson) have all been terrific. Max Shippee (Graham) has also performed solidly.

However, is Graham’s so-called ‘Reign of Terror’ believable? The analysis is mixed.

Surely there are various viewers who are aware of individuals who either have, or appear to have taken advantage of an elderly person suffering from a disease. Money is the issue within this storyline, which is comparable to real world schemes. But the Abbott family’s inability to blunt Graham’s repeated actions felt a bit soapy early on.

Considering the suspension of disbelief effect, it’s reasonable to accept a dramatic scenario would end Graham’s run in GC. Widening the number of people who aid Dina’s cause, in this instance J.T., also makes sense. Yet Y&R needs to resolve this portion of its storyline very soon in order to preserve the outstanding work that everyone, including Adams in particular has done.

Graham will need to be arrested for attacking Dina, as witnessed by J.T., which could serve to release Mr. Bloodworth’s grip on the legally suffocating medical of power of attorney he unjustly still holds. If time in jail isn’t the remedy than Jackie will need to employ his creative side once again. Possibly Graham’s mother could be compromised?

And then there’s always Gloria (Judith Chapman). She cuddled up to Graham in the recent past, but remains loyal to Jack. As ever, ‘Glo’ can’t be counted out as a potential Abbott weapon and may proved to be useful soon, somehow.

One alternative resolution would also be if Graham is somehow connected to the Abbott family, or has another, meaningful GC connection? That would open numerous soapy possibilities and also advance the story.
