The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Is Lily’s Storyline Believable? – Khalil’s Drop To Recurring Status Fuels Drama

Lily (Christel Khalil) should not be sent to prison for any length of time on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She was distracted by the person who eventually died and can also prove that the car crash which took Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) life and that of ‘Hevon’s’ unborn child was not intentional, or reckless.

Y&R crafted a write-out for Morgan’s character based on that actor’s decision to wrap her five-year run. Factors surrounding that choice appear to include her current pregnancy and contract terms. Family matters more than any paid profession. And, life in the soap world involves business decisions by all parties involved.

One storyline consequence of Hilary dying appears to be Lily’s impending imprisonment. What? That question is a natural reaction based upon believability, which is the hallmark of any strong daytime drama arc.

The author of this piece and likely, many of its readers, aren’t legal experts. But common sense and awareness of reality allows all to speculate that no prosecution would be certain to somehow prove Lily’s intent was to kill Hilary, as the driver also would have been purposely endangering Charlie’s (Noah Alexander Gerry) life and her own.

Testimony that lays out the scenario, whereby Shauna’s (Camryn Hamm) actions provoked a chase that led to the crash would surely clear Khalil’s character of any purposeful intent. Lily, by all of her actions and subsequent shock in learning at Hilary’s post-funeral wake what actually happened, could easily be portrayed as non-negligent.

Michael (Christian LeBlanc) is a solid lawyer. He doesn’t win every case, but could likely prevail under normal circumstances. That means Lily would lose her license and possibly serve a modest sentence, meaning months, at best.

Community service and a fine would be far more plausible than Lily heading to prison for an extended period of time. But Khalil is moving to recurring status, which means that her character appears to be relocating behind bars.

‘Lane’ fans naturally wouldn’t be happy with any reduction in Lily’s screen time. But having her exit play out in this fashion is something many Y&R fans may question, assuming the future is bleak.
