The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Hilary Creates Tension Between Devon and Lily From Beyond the Grave

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) can now be referred to in the past tense on ‘The Young and the Restless’. While Lily (Christel Khalil) made peace with her longtime nemesis before Morgan’s character died, Devon (Bryton James) wants to fight with his sister now that he’s learned details of the horrific car accident that killed his wife and their unborn baby.

It all happened so quickly, so horribly, and left such permanent scars. Lily was driving. She was looking for Shauna (Camryn Hamm), while Hilary was written into the passenger’s seat position and Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) sat in the back.

Lily and Hilary were arguing about ‘Sharlie’s’ choice to get together at ‘Hevon’s’ home while an approaching tractor trailer was rapidly approaching at the upcoming intersection. Y&R’s in-action scene offered a view over Hilary’s right shoulder. The green screen effect was sharp, as the trio appeared to be driving through downtown Genoa City traffic.

The truck driver beeped his horn as Lily proceeded through the red light. She allowed herself to be distracted into an argument which led to Hilary’s death.

Lily didn’t know she was the cause of the crash until after a GC police officer interviewed her and then submitted a report. But Devon doesn’t believe that. He thinks his sister willfully wanted Hilary to become a statistic. That is logically ridiculous, but understandable based upon this grieving husband’s frazzled state.

Hilary often served as a source of conflict between these siblings, along with many other pairings and individuals. She died apparently unaware that Lily’s actions caused her demise. However, in all likelihood, Hilary would not have blamed Lily based upon her in-hospital epiphany.

Y&R fans are wondering if Hilary will appear to Devon from Heaven (forgiving fans will agree with this otherworldly location assessment), telling her true love that Lily wasn’t at fault. Accidents happen. That would (will) be the relayed message.

In the meantime, Devon will lash out at Lily. His recovery period will be rough as the summer plays out. But he’ll get through it and hopefully pursue love again, as Hilary requested.
