The Alzheimer’s storyline that Adams has been working since 2017 is glorious. It easily ranks with this soap’s best arcs in years due to the writing, including plot pacing and of course, the acting, along with ever-evolving intrigue.
Abby (Melissa Ordway) has been digitally recording sessions with her grandmother in order to preserve her memories. To-date, Dina has been fondly recalling her school days and times when Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Jack were young.
However, Abby and the audience had no idea that Dina was going to mention that Jack’s father wasn’t John Abbott. If true that’s not only incredible, but also will completely transform Bergman’s scripts.
Tenured Y&R fans know just how touchy Jack can be. Unlucky countless times in love, troubles in business, mostly with Victor (Eric Braeden) and his recent sibling break with Ashley already have him on edge. Imagine how he’ll react after learning that Dina admitted he was born to a heretofore unknown father!
Everything who Jack is ties him to the Abbott lineage. He, along with his sisters lived through Dina abandoning them as children. John became a male single parent during an era when the nuclear unit was strong, as it always has been throughout known history.
John is said to have never learned that Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) was Ashley’s biological father. But was it possible that he caught wind of Jack’s paternity and never let on?
The otherworldly visits that Jack has experienced with John since he passed a number of years ago could provide an otherwise impossible answer to the question asked in the last paragraph. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. First, Y&R will need to confirm that Dina’s memory is correct. If so, then she, Genoa City and its fans can try to prepare for one of the great tailspins of all-time whenever Jack learns that staggering truth.
