The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Dina Dashes Jack Abbott’s Chancellor Dreams

Jack (Peter Bergman) thought he might be trading one family (and its riches) for another on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But Dina (Marla Adams) insists that he’s not Phillip’s (Donnelly Rhodes) son.

It’s challenging to know what the real truth is, a point that both Jack and his daytime observers are chewing over. Fictionally speaking, Dina’s Alzheimer’s condition means that her recollections may, or may not be accurate. Reality wise, Y&R fans wonder if the ride they boarded in the spring will last all summer (or into the fall) and reach an Abbott-after-all-ending.

This storyline began with Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) warm-hearted gesture. As an aside, maybe what Victor (Eric Braeden) senses in his second-born daughter is right. She doesn’t have the killer instinct to lead Newman Enterprises, or at least she probably won’t while he’s alive.

Of all the Newman’s, it can be argued that Abby has the most compassionate instincts. At the same time, she’s also an Abbott. Wanting to get closer to her grandmother, she set up a series of interviews that resulted in the infamous, big-screen paternity divulge.

However, the resultant DNA tests that were spurned haven’t actually confirmed anything. Jack has learned that he and Traci (Beth Maitland) aren’t a full match and that he and Billy (Jason Thompson) aren’t related at all. That two-sentence summary leads us to the group photo Jack recently unlocked that included Phillip.

It would be epic if Jack actually was a Chancellor, as an instant conflict would be established with Jill (played by the returning and always welcomed Jess Walton). But maybe ‘Smilin Jack’ isn’t part of that family at all. If not, then who is his father? Until Dina is able to provide more information, or unless Jack finds conclusive proof this summer saga will stream onward.

Jack Abbott? Jack Chancellor? Wait! There were other people in that obtuse black and white photo that purposely wasn’t shown in closeup to the audience. Another clue, or two, must be staring back at Bergman’s character, right?

So, Jack’s search and the audience’s tail continue.
