The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Devon Ready for Fatherhood – Hevon Begins Again

Devon (Bryton James) has come a long way on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He’s matured since being married. Yes, the focus of this feature is on the second-half of the popular mashed nickname that represents one of Y&R’s most engaging couples.

James has developed as an actor during his run on daytime’s number 1 scripted show. He debuted in 2004, while still a teenager. Y&R made him a part of the Winters family during the era of the great Victoria Rowell (Dru).

Jumping to the mid-2010’s, Devon held no love for the woman who attacked his family’s reputation and then, eventually and stunningly married his adopted dad. Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) wife proved to be quite disruptive. So much so that she had eyes for Devon, as he did for her.

Being married changed Devon, but not in ways that proved fully positive. Oh, there were times of bliss. But angst often ruled the day. Devon came to see his union as unproductive and opted to leave the pairing in early 2017.

Mariah (Camryn Grimes) was a good friend. Friendship can often lead to romance and Devon was open to seeing where ‘Mevon’ might go. However, Mariah was undergoing a realization and decided to pursue other romantic options. So Devon became a free agent again.

As part of the Hamilton Winters Group’s long-term strategy, Devon reacquired GC Buzz. He not only choose to retain the host of its eponymous lead show but also allowed her to work within his office. Doing so was a measured way of seeing if their personal relationship could be renewed.

It didn’t take long until Devon and the host explored latent feelings. Then they agreed to have a baby. The baby is now on the way, which has brought true joy to these good souls.

The renewal of ‘Hevon’ is as much about Devon’s growth as it is about the development of the lady he loves. She has often been blamed for being the cause of strife. Yes, in various instances that was true. But not in all. And, as previously noted, this feature was focused on Devon which is why her name wasn’t mentioned.

Two truly fine actors. Two strongly written characters. Yes, those are the elements that make great soap.
