The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Chick’s Egg Cracks – Chelsea’s Betrayal Breaks Nick’s Heart

Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) world is about to be destroyed on ‘The Young and theRestless’. He’ll realize at least one devastating fact and possibly another within coming weeks. To start, Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) double-life will be exposed.

Alexandra West is the alias Chelsea used to launder money. J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) private investigation exposed that false name, but didn’t initially link Mrs. Newman to the crime. However, Sharon’s (Sharon Case) comment to Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) about the stash Nick found in the penthouse vents is propelling the storyline that signals Egan’s current run on Y&R.

Sage’s (Kelly Sullivan) death happened awhile ago in both real and soap time. Nick eventually recovered from the loss of his wife due, in part, to the friendship he developed with Chelsea. Adam’s (Justin Hartley) loss enabled Egan’s character to turn to his brother.

‘Chick’developed organically. Daytime devotees knew that Sullivan’s write-out and Hartley’s voluntary departure enabled this couple to form. Fans also appreciated the chops both actors used in establishing this believable and likeable duo.

Nick and Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) eventually moved into the penthouse, which teased the seemingly fated reveal of the suspended paternity tale. Chelsea’s guilt in concealing that moral crime has often been apparent. The issue was oddly reignited by Victor (Eric Braeden) a few weeks before Christmas, when he threatened Chelsea to comply to a request or face the consequences of him telling Nick the truth about the boy who is Adam’s son.

Whether Nick comes to learn about Christian’s paternity as a result of Chelsea’s so-called “back-up plan” being exposed is an open question. Irregardless, the woman he’d come to trust is about to be exposed as not actually having abandoned the scammer side of her personality. That alone will crush Nick’s fragile soul.

Egan’s departure is a blow to fans of this actor. As viewers recall, she joined the cast in 2011. Victor hired the then-con artist to set up Billy (then played by Billy Miller), which led to Johnny’s (Ryan and Holden Hare) birth.

Hopefully, Egan’s prediction of returning to Y&R in the future proves true. She’s been one part of this soap’s solid ensemble.
