The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Chelsea Admits Secret to Christian – Phyllis Pushing Chelsea Out of Genoa City

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is all over Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Egan’s character suggested to Sharon (Sharon Case) that Phyllis is making up stories about her claimed crimes because of a possible desire to reestablish ‘Phick’. But that doesn’t compute, as everyone on- and off-screen know.

Y&R fans know that Chelsea is being written out of the show. Egan’s recent announcement, that she was leaving the cast, came as a surprise. Fans of this solid actor will miss the consistency she exhibited during a run that began in 2011. Chelsea will be remembered as an engaging character whose greatest moments came during her scenes with two versions of Adam (Michael Muhney and Justin Hartley).

An increasing number of Genoa City residents recognize that Chelsea’s responses to issues that Phyllis raised are suspicious. The widow of Adam recently told Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) that she established her rainy day money fund as insurance against his paternity reveal. Viewers were the intended receivers of said dialogue, as Christian was playing with a toy while his stepmother was confessing.

Tognoni’s embodiment of Phyllis has been vastly different than Michelle Stafford’s was. Today’s edition is much softer, which makes the verbal attacks on Chelsea somewhat odd. Why has Y&R positioned Phyllis as Chelsea’s pursuer?

Chelsea’s knowing ruse, that Phyllis is after her because she wants Nick (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t add up because of Billy (Jason Thompson). While Jack (Peter Bergman) continues to fade into history, ‘Philly’ rages on and everyone in Genoa City knows it. So Chelsea is just trying to deflect criticism in any way that she can in an increasingly desperate attempt to fend off the anticipated future.

It appears as though the Christian reveal will play prominently into Chelsea’s exit. Whether she’s able to escape town, voluntarily departs with one, or both of her sons, as Christian is a seeming stepchild, is not yet known. But Y&R fans should expect a fitting write-out for one of its best actors very soon.
