Cane (Daniel Goddard) is right to believe that Jack (Peter Bergman) could be a threat on ‘The Young and the Restless’. If it’s true that Mr. Abbott is actually Mr. Chancellor, then Cane’s place at Chancellor Industries will be threatened. Of course, Jill (Jess Walton) will have at least half-say about this projected development.
The idea that Jack isn’t an Abbott is purely theoretical as of the moment. Recent DNA tests showed that Jack isn’t a full-sibling match with Traci (Beth Maitland) and isn’t Billy’s sibling. However, neither result means that Jack isn’t an Abbott.
It’s plausible that Dina (Marla Adams) had Traci through another man. Possibly she’s Philip Chancellor II’s (as last played by the late Donnelly Rhodes) daughter? That outcome would transform a side character’s backstory, which would be far more digestible than if legacy character Jack is rebranded.

It’s also possible that Jill had Billy (Jason Thompson) through someone other than John (Jerry Douglas). Many men could prove to be Billy’s dad. Jill’s known dalliances, which most famously included the one with Philip, might again be revisited.
Walton’s welcomed return to the cast has already taken place. So Jill’s upcoming scenes will soon be shown, surely playing into Jack’s unfolding storyline.
As devoted viewers know, Jill installed Cane as CI’s head after he was ousted at Brash and Sassy and then was basically blocked by Vickie (Amelia Heinle) from getting a professional position in Genoa City. That means Jill will not only protect Cane’s slot but more importantly, the Chancellor assets she controls, which includes the mansion’s land where her beloved Phillip is buried.
An epic battle will ensue if Jack pursues Phillip’s exhumation. Jill’s devotion to the man she had Phillip III (Thom Bierdz) through would prompt a fierce showdown, with outcomes unknown.
Cane’s belief that Jack is stirring trouble which may prove unnecessary is justified, as is Mr. Ashby’s feeling that his own career could be disrupted. But Jack must have his paternity question answered. That conflict has established a solid summer arc on Y&R.
