The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy’s Last Days – Intervention Fails, He Feels Betrayed

Billy (Jason Thompson) is an addict on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But that’s not news. Instead, Traci’s (Beth Maitland) call for an intervention proves to be very dramatic.

A gathered crowd of loved ones tries to convince Billy to take responsibility for his actions. This is an old tale, as Vickie (Amelia Heinle) came to know so well. Though the Billy she was married to a handful of years ago looked like Billy Miller (wink).

Family members and friends can’t make Billy do what’s right. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), his current significant other, was unable to pull him back from the cliff. She was able to help his brother Jack (Peter Bergman) beat his drug addiction earlier this decade. But this beast wasn’t one she knew how to attack.

Kyle (Michael Mealor) has provoked Billy’s jump overboard. He paid Sinead (Lira Kellerman) to lure his uncle to Las Vegas. Then, Kyle had a contact forward Billy an invitation to a gambling syndicate, which he eagerly accepted.

While Ashley (Eileen Davidson) wants Billy out as Jabot’s Chief Executive Office, she was not okay with Kyle’s devious schemes.

Gloria (Judith Chapman) was ordered to shift a half-million dollars in Jabot funds to be available for a purpose that had nothing to do with business. Instead, Billy embezzled from Jabot in order to buy into a high-roller betting conglomerate.

To his credit, Billy has kept Phyllis informed about all he’s been doing. He believed that she understood what he referred to as his chosen lifestyle.

Yes, people like Billy use their free will to choose to live a certain way. But Jack didn’t know, when asked the other day, that the advisement he gave his brother to go for it involved thoughts about misusing company funds. As Y&R fans recall, Billy also lied in responding to Jack’s conditions that Billy wouldn’t be hurting himself, or anyone else.

Addicts like Billy bow to their demons and then are controlled by them. Though these poor souls always deserve help.

Blinded to reality, Billy believes the intervention that took place at the Abbott house represents an affront and a full betrayal by all involved. What comes next is why soap opera fans watch.
