The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy Dealing With Summers Seduction, Needs To Tell Phyllis NOW!

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) said it herself on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She has been staring in the face of her younger self since Summer (Hunter King) returned with a thud to Genoa City. But what Phyllis doesn’t know, yet, is that the other half of ‘Philly’ is dealing with a different kind of fallout.

Summer has been teasing Billy (Jason Thompson). She’s not doing that for any particular reason other than her own immaturity, while also playing off Billy’s reputation.

King’s mid-20’s character has openly defied her mother’s respect both to her face and behind her back. That reads like an angst-ridden teenager’s efforts, rather than as the actions someone who should be striving toward stable status. But the Newman money has turned her into an overgrown brat, which somewhat mimics how Nick (Joshua Morrow) has been behaving toward his father.

The issues between Nick and Victor (Eric Braeden) can be addressed with more detail in future columns. Suffice it say that the ‘Moustache’ has at least provoked Nick’s recent comebacks, whereas Phyllis hasn’t done anything to elicit the betrayal Summer implies to commit.

Billy has been trying to handle Summer’s come-on. What he must do before he’s framed, or allows matters to get out of control, is tell Phyllis exactly what’s happening.

It’s taken a lot of effort to create and then sustain ‘Philly’. ‘Silly’ has a nearly zero chance of survival and would only serve to wreck two of three lives. Yes, Summer would likely be spared, per her design.

As this is the soap world, it seems inevitable that Phyllis will accidentally learn what Summer is doing. Billy will look like the bad guy, as is that character’s bent, and ‘Philly’ will either be fractured, or permanently break.

If he has to, Billy should buy a place of his own. If Phyllis moves with him, so be it. If not, at least he will have sliced himself from the threat. Oh, it’s already a dangerous summer in GC, even though the season doesn’t officially start until the twenty-first of this month.
