The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy and Phyllis Gamble Philly Away – Summer Not Responsible For Split

The setup on ‘The Young and the Restless’ appears to have been that Summer (Hunter King) was going to end ‘Philly’ through her obsession with Billy (Jason Thompson). But actually, Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) plan to lure his uncle back to the gambling table one more time will expose which two characters are most responsible for ‘Philly’s’ end.

Billy has often been his own worst enemy. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) was the person who finally got through to him, which enabled what proved to be a change. While it didn’t last forever, at least Billy demonstrated that he could be responsible.

Phyllis showed Billy how to believe in himself. The Abbott family hadn’t seen his potential, nor had Victoria (Amelia Heinle), through the years. But with Phyllis’ encouragement, he stayed away from the poker chips and agreed to take leadership at Jabot.

After Summer’s forced Jaboat cruise, Phyllis and Billy remain fully on guard. However, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) is bound to reclaim power at Jabot. While she wasn’t initially willing to go along with Kyle’s dirty plan, she eventually relented.

The subsequent setup, where Sinead (Lira Kellerman) was paid to hook Billy back to the poker table, is the latest example of Thompson’s character being unable to contain himself.

Nothing happened between Billy and Summer. But by placing himself in that seedy environment once more, Billy opens himself up to Summer’s ongoing manipulation attempts.

Phyllis’ dalliance with Nick (Joshua Morrow) hasn’t been referenced until now because it was fading into back storylines. However, this secret will be told. As that happens, both Billy and Phyllis’ roles in the ‘Philly’ wreck will be fully visible.

No matter what runs through Summer’s mind, Billy will be the one to break Phyllis’ trust. He’ll also learn that she broke his and their pairing will be dust.

This couple actually proved good for each other, despite early misgivings many fans had about the unbelievable nature of its existence. However, in the end, maybe Phyllis and Billy weren’t suited for each other as so many projected?
