The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy and Phyllis Break-up Looms

Summer (Hunter King) wants Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. And, Jack (Peter Bergman) wants Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) back. But as of the moment both halves of ‘Philly’ want to stay together.

It appears as though Y&R is setting up a scenario where Summer will either force Billy into doing something, or make it appear that he’s betrayed trust. Phyllis will blow her top in either regard and that couple will be over, right?

However, good soap often send what looks like a good pitch to the audience. The ball dips and the fans watch it sail by, hooked by the change of speed.

Jack and Summer recently had a heart-to-heart at the Genoa City Athletic Club bar. While there Jack told his stepdaughter, who he delivered and initially believed was his biological child, that he still loves her mother. Actually, Bergman’s legacy character said that he never stopped caring for Phyllis.

It would make soapy sense if Jack continued his quest to reclaim his former wife, despite her initial push-back. As soon as Phyllis learns, or somehow uncovers (wink) ‘Silly’, it’s reasonable to believe that she will seek consolation in Jack’s arms.

While Summer’s plan to breakup ‘Philly’ is dishonest and she seemingly doesn’t love Billy, or have intents on developing a serious relationship with him, she’s not wrong about Phyllis having discarded Jack for no good reason. Yes, he didn’t handle the Marco (also played by Bergman) fallout with tact, or compassion. Yet, the scenario that was engineered by Victor didn’t change Jack’s feelings for Phyllis at that time, or since. That’s why he wants ‘Phack’ back.

‘Philly’ feels like a near-term goner. However, as previously noted, audience member expectations sometimes aren’t met. In order to craft a digestible and engaging coupled (pun intended) storyline, Y&R will need to massage the conflict between the four named parties and repair whichever two, or four make most sense.

‘Phack’ returns, ‘Philly’ stays intact, ‘Silly’ emerges? Devoted viewers will soon learn.
