The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Ashley’s Compassion Commendable – DNA Discovery Protected

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) is actually a great sister on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Yes, she’s had her issues with Jack (Peter Bergman) in recent months. But it can be argued that her brother created nearly all the tension that exists, or existed, between these siblings. That’s why Ashley’s recent decision to withhold information about Jack’s paternity affirms her deep compassion.

Abby (Melissa Ordway) was surprised to hear Dina (Marla Adams) acknowledge that John (Jerry Douglas) wasn’t Jack’s father. Actually, stunned would more aptly describe Abby’s reaction to what her grandmother divulged during one of her memory-preserve recording sessions.

Davidson’s character initially rejected Dina’s admission despite the fact that she learned Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) was her biological father in the mid-1980’s. However, Ashley pushed ahead and had a rapid DNA test conducted. The results were received confirming Jack’s non-Abbott status.

As Y&R fans know, poor Jack is currently in jail. He’s stuck there due to his own guilt, but not to the degree Paul (Doug Davidson) believes. Jack is a thief, having stolen Victor’s (Eric Braeden) backup hard drive after finding him unconscious at the Ranch. But he didn’t fight with the ‘Black Knight’ last week, or push him down the stairs.

Kyle (Michael Mealor) recently returned to Genoa City. It’s not yet known if he chose this opportunity because Victor is light’s out and his father is in jail. But both factors are providing Jack’s son the opportunity to create business mischief that’s actually very personal.

Ashley has rightfully decided to keep the information she and Abby confirmed secret for the time being. Jack isn’t able to defend himself right now, let alone handle what will be a permanent life change.

There’s little question that Kyle will try to exploit his father’s paternity news. After awakening, Victor will surely manipulate this information to his advantage as well. But the wild card and possibly the strongest card in this soapy game may be Ashley, who has Jack’s back.
