The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Ashley Still Loves Jack – Sibling Rivalry Doesn’t Stop Compassion

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) learned and then confirmed that John (Jerry Douglas) also isn’t Jack’s (Peter Bergman) father on ‘The Young and the Restless’. While she doesn’t yet know who the mystery sire is, Ashley has decided to keep this secret. That choice reaffirms the love she has for her brother.

Just to clarify these soapy dealings, Ashley and Jack are brother and sister through Dina (Marla Adams). They originally thought John was their father, but a mid-1980’s storyline rocked that perception.

Picking up where Y&R’s writing staff from the Big 80’s left off, executive producer and head writer Mal Young’s team revived Adams’ character last year. As time moved forward Dina came to have a two-track storyline. And both paths continue to widen as 2018 unfolds.

Dina’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis eventually led to her revealing that John Abbott was not Jack’s son. That news staggered Abby (Melissa Ordway), who was digitally recording her grandmother’s memories for posterity. Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) was assisting, per his mother’s recommendation.

Abby advised her mom about the shock. Together they had a DNA test conducted, where they compared Jack’s genetic material to Traci’s (Beth Maitland). The results, which confirmed Jack and John weren’t related, missed the record time finish that Nick earned when checking on Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) biological status.

While Ashley and Abby don’t yet know the full truth about Jack’s paternity, as there is no evidence about his true father’s identity available, they’ve decided to keep this matter a secret for now. Ashley has taken the lead in the matter, as Jack is her brother, albeit only half.

Dina ruled out Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) as Jack’s pop. So another character, either known, or to be discovered, will eventually be revealed as the man in question.

Jack won’t initially see it this way. But all of the above, most especially Ashley not running to Jack with half the story, fully proves that their current, bitter spat hasn’t affected the compassion she has for her brother.

Actually, Abby’s interview and Ashley’s response to Dina’s stunning reveal may help repair Jack’s relationship with this sister. But that will take time, as Y&R fans know how Jack will react when he first learns the news. He’ll blame Dina for betraying John and then Ashley for withholding his personal information.
