The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Ashley Makes Wise Decision – Paris Move Ends Her Story

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) digested all that happened on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Then, after returning to the fabled Abbott mansion, she makes a decision. It’s off to Paris with her patent rights.

Y&R crafted a sharp write-out for one of its greatest legacy cast members. Davidson debuted as Ashley in 1984. Along with many soapy adventures, she played Jack’s (Peter Bergman) sibling rival through the course of three-plus decades. Her varied stints included time away from the show and a character cross-over to the spinoff soap, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’.

What to do when learning that Dina (Marla Adams) actually did express full love for her first-born daughter a number of years ago? The legal papers that were found inside a previously unknown safe in John’s (Jerry Douglas) one-time office permanently changed Jabot’s business landscape, affirming the respect that Ashley has long been seeking.

It’s fair to say that the patent rights’ document that Dina led Kyle (Michael Mealor) to also alters the dynamic between Jack and Ashley forever. Regardless of whether ‘Jackie’ becomes Jabot’s Chief Executive Officer again, he will now be forever neutralized by Ashley’s power of the family company’s products.

It’s poetically fitting that Ashley would follow in her mother’s footsteps by moving to France after working through a major family problem. Dina made that choice decades ago following her voluntary exit from her marriage to John and then became Madame Mergeron. Her subsequently developed business acumen was occasionally referenced, but wasn’t written back into this daytime play until last year.

Dina’s deep regret, in having abandoned her three young children, spurned her return, rapprochement, and fantastically presented Alzheimer’s storyline. Davidson’s work with Adams was superb and appeared to be somewhat linked to real life. Davidson’s social media account shows a tweet pinned in June 2018, where the actor provides information about her own mother’s Alzheimer’s condition and encourages the fight against this disease to rage on.

This actor’s departure leaves a hole in the show, as Davidson will be greatly missed by her colleagues and fans. Her character will surely be mentioned from time to time, but it seems as though fans are watching this accomplished actor’s final scenes in Genoa City.
