The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Ashley in the Catbird Seat – Victor Plays Weak Hand

Ashley (Eileen Davidson) didn’t intend to work at Newman Enterprises on ‘The Young and the Restless’. No, she left Jabot Cosmetics because Jack (Peter Bergman) drove her crazy and had purposely stifled any chance she had of running, or even helping to lead their family company. However, a set of unexpected circumstances puts Ashley in the catbird seat now at Newman.

Jack and Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) completely foolish scheme, which has been revealed, left Victor (Eric Braeden) with a weak hand to play. After firing Ashley, for what he thought was an act of corporate espionage, Abby (Melissa Ordway) provided him with proof that Vickie was the sneak. At that point Victor was faced with two options.

Ashley said that she would return to Newman Enterprises if Victor fired Vickie. He didn’t want to do that, but also didn’t want Ashley to take the insider information she’d gained with her back to Jabot. Plus, her legal standing for wrongful termination was likely provable and very strong.

The enviable position Ashley now has is increased power. Victor recruited an eager individual who’s made no bones about wanting to take over the ‘Moustache’s’ job when he leaves it, or is otherwise six feet under, cremated or assumed dead in fine soapy tradition.

Vickie should accept the demotion offered to her, bide her time and hope that Ashley departs. Although, that may not happen considering her heavy compensation and seat on Newman’s board of directors.

Ashley may be receiving blessings, after months of distress. Her Dina (Marla Adams) issues and battles with Jack took a heavy toll on her. Regardless of what anyone thinks about those two personal matters, Ashley didn’t deserve to be set up by Victoria or fired by Victor.

Miss Abbott is playing her cards well and knows that she’s in the right. Victor, though Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) suggestion, will now try to broker an acceptable deal that brings Ashley back and allows Vickie to remain somewhere within the Newman Enterprises’ machine.
